FROM CANVAS TO CONTRETE: MY FIRST MURAL

I did it. I painted my first mural!

I've spent years creating abstract artwork on canvas, but taking that process onto an outdoor wall was a whole new adventure.

The mural is at I/O Arcade Bar in Madison, Wisconsin, and I wanted it to feel like my work while fitting into the playful, energetic environment of the space. They had an unloved outdoor wall that needed some color, so I got after it.

I experimented with layouts, color combinations, and ways to bring my signature layers and illegible writing into a much larger format. There were definitely moments when I wondered what the hell I'd gotten myself into!

But that's part of making art, isn't it? Trying something new, figuring things out as you go, and trusting the process enough to see where it takes you.

In the end, I took the ideas I'd been exploring and made them my own. Seeing everything come together on that wall was such a rewarding experience, and hearing that people love it makes it even better. I'm proud of this one. And I have a feeling it won't be my last mural. If you're in Madison, stop by I/O and check it out!
